National Nurses Week

I heard that it is National Nurses Week, and I thought I would tell you about a very special nurse! 

Many of you may remember Stacy (McGuffin) Butschek.  Anyway, she was my labor and delivery nurse with Ella!  It was so neat to see a familar face walk into my room!  I had prayed for a good nurse, and the Lord answered my prayer over and above what I had asked for!

Stacy took amazing care of me all day!  What a gift!

So, Stacy, THANK YOU for not only what you did for us, but how you serve families every day as a nurse!

Finally an update…

(This is me tonight – my due date!)

Okay, sorry to keep you hanging…I just got home after being gone all day.

Here is the news…I am going in at 6am tomorrow to be induced!  So, Ella should be born tomorrow!    yippee!   My doc got stuck at the hospital today, so I didn’t get to see him.  But I saw another doctor and was able to ask a lot of questions.  I was still 3 cm and 70% effaced.  He said I seemed to have a lot of amniotic fluid, so her head was floating kind of high, not allowing it to press down on my cervix to help me progress more.  But my cervix is already ripe, so he felt like all I needed was a little “nudge” to get going.  So they will probably break my water and give me some pitocin.  (I have had to have pitocin, every time – even when my water broke on it’s own.  So this wouldn’t be new for me.) 

There were several factors that went into us deciding to go this route, but we feel it is a good decision.  We are praying that it will go well, and that my body will respond the way they expect.

Another exciting thing is that one of my favorite docs is on call tomorrow!  Yay!  Dr. Boone will be there, so that is something I am thrilled about.

Our boys are spending the night with Andy and Emily and will come up to the hospital after they go to breakfast in the morning!    My parents will be driving down tomorrow morning.

Tonight Chris took me to get a mani/pedi!  It was so nice!  We just went to a place in the mall, since it was a last minute thing!  I got all PINK in honor of Ella!  Couldn’t tell you the last time my toes were THIS PINK!  ha!  

Then we had dinner at Carrabba’s – kind of a last supper/date night for a while!  We talked about how we are amazed that the Lord would choose to be so kind to us through this gift! 

Again, we are going to try to update the blog during the day, provided that we have internet connection.  We would definitely love your prayers that all would go well and that Ella and I would be healthy through the process!  (Also that it wouldn’t take too long!)

So, time for bed – the alarm will be going off very early! 

Due Date is Here!

Well, I can’t believe it, but I actually made it to my due date!  This is a first for me.  But in thinking about it, a lot has been different with this pregnancy – I shouldn’t be surprised that this is different as well!

I have had a couple of nice relaxing days.  So that has been a fun treat.  We have gotten a good bit of school done, I took the boys to the park, I even sat out to catch a few rays!  So I can’t complain!

I am ready, though!  I am going to the doctor today at 2:30!   I will get to see Dr. Hill – my doctor.  So it will be interesting to see what he suggests at this point!  “Overdue” has never been part of the conversation! 

So…we are still waiting, but she has to come sooner or later!

Take another guess!

Okay…it would appear that nothing is happening in the delivery department right now!  Today is the last date that I have guesses for when she will be born.  So…I thought I would open it up again and see if anyone wants to take a guess at Ella’s birthdate!  She’s already let us know that she is unpredictable!    Oh, and you won’t hurt my feelings if you guess past the due date (4/10).  Ha, ha!  At this point, I am just comforted by the fact that AT SOME POINT she will be born!    So if you haven’t gotten completely bored with this site by now, leave a comment with your guess.  I still have everyone’s guesses at birth weight/length (unless you want to update that, too!)

Thank You, Lord, that You have the perfect day and time for Ella to enter into this world!  Help us(me) to trust You and not be anxious in the mean time!  You know what is best for each of us in this situation and we know that You will be Faithful in the midst of it all!

 

Oooppps…false alarm…

Well, after a trip to the hospital, it would appear that it was a false alarm.    Still can’t quite figure it out… Oh well.  Oh and of course, the contractions that I was having in the waiting room ALL STOPPED once I got in the triage room.  Ughhh…so frustrating!

Chris is convinced that everyone’s prayers for me stopped everything!  ha, ha!

Oh well, something to laugh at, I suppose.  But we will just have to wait a little longer to meet our little girl!  She is making the wait quite interesting!  (My poor boys were SO sad when we got home – especially Alec.) 

Hopefully we will have something to report soon!

 

BIG NEWS!!!!!!

Okay…so call me a liar…but we have news!  It would appear that labor has started and things are happening.  Kind of weird as far as the contractions go, but very similar to how it started with Alec.  Actually as I am typing this, I feel one coming on! 

So, I have now taken a fresh shower and we are finishing getting the last minute things together.  Andy and Emily just got here to keep the boys until we get settled at the hospital.  Then they will all come up there.  My parents will be leaving G’ville soon.  I doubt anything will happen too fast!  But who knows with this little girl!
