Update on our (many) doctor visits…

Well, it has been a crazy week around here.  Caleb has been having really bad headaches, so his neurosurgeon wanted us to meet him at the Children’s ER (it was his hospital day) to go ahead and run tests on Caleb’s shunt, just to make sure…  All the tests came back clear (of course he didn’t have a headache that day!)  But the pain came back the next morning!  He has pretty much been down with a H/A since yesterday morning.  The weird thing is that he does fine if he is lying flat, but when he sits up, it starts hurting again.  This is the typical time of year for him to have headaches, but they just seem worse than normal this year.  We went to the pediatrician again today, and they seem a little perplexed!  So they just want me to watch him for a few more days.  (I can increase the ibuprofen that he takes, so maybe that will help!)  All this to say, please keep praying for our little guy!

Alec is doing well, just has a little bit of a residual cough from being sick.  I can tell he is still more tired than normal, so he has been taking naps this week!  :-)

I had an OB appt. yesterday.  All is going well – nothing much to report.  It was just a quick visit.  I go back in two weeks, and I will also have another ultrasound.  I am 34 weeks today!  So hard to believe!  The weeks are flying by.  We hope to paint Ella’s room this weekend.  We will see how that goes!

Well, that is the excitement going on at our house.

More Doctor Visits…oh, and shots!

Well, we have been spending a LOT of time in doctors’ offices!  I am sure the healthcare system loves us and all the co-pays we are shelling out to them!  Anyway…

I took the boys for their annual physicals yesterday.  Caleb had a 7 year check up and Alec had a 4 year check up.  Here are their stats – Caleb is 50 1/4″ tall (95%) and 69 lbs (95%).  Alec is 41 1/2″ tall (75%) and 53 1/2 lbs (over 100% – he is creating his own growth curve on the chart!!)  The doctor just laughs and calls them “her big boys!”  She was amazed at the size of Alec’s feet!  (about size 12!)  But they passed all their tests (seeing and hearing tests, etc.)  Everything looked great – Caleb will have his yearly shunt check up next month.  But then it happened…we found out that they needed a couple of shots at this check-up…the boys had a MELTDOWN!  The last time they had shots, Alec didn’t even cry, but they were both in hysterics!  So it was this huge ordeal…lots of tears and a phone call to Daddy later, they survived the shots (that weren’t nearly as bad as they expected!)  I was exhausted by the end!  But it is over…for now!

I had an OB appt. today.  It was a quick one.  Everything looks good.  She is still head-down.  Oh and the big news was that my glucose bloodwork came back fine!  I was relieved!  The test was no fun, but it “had” to be done.  So that was an answer to prayer.  I go for another ultrasound next week.  I will update again at that point!
