Well, today was the big day! I took Alec this afternoon to the orthopaedic doctor to check his arm. Hard to believe it has already been 4 weeks! (the weeks seem to be flying by around here) Anyway, they took off his cast! 
I had prepped him that they may need to put something back on, so he was “cautiously” excited! But after doing x-rays, they feel that it is healed enough to not keep a cast or splint on it.
There is still about a 25 degree angle in the bone that will straighten out over time. Since he is so young and still has LOTS of growing to do, this should not be an issue. They said the swelling will take a little time to go down.
He has to be really careful for the next 3-4 weeks and still not have normal 4 yr. old activity, since the area is vulnerable – we definitely don’t want him to re-break it! But it is nice to have the cast gone!
