*Ella’s 6 month update*

Well, Ella has been 6 months for almost two weeks and I am just now able to update.  The last couple of weeks have been crazy.  Just when I thought everyone was feeling better, Alec got strep throat!  Thankfully, we caught it early and were able to get an Rx to knock it out.  He is feeling much better!

So, Ella is 6 months…the time is just flying by.  I am trying to enjoy each day – even the challenging ones, because I know this time goes so fast.  She is such a sweet baby.  She is still very smiley and loves to interact with people.  Her brothers make her smile and laugh a lot!  She has been a lot more clingy and fussy over the last few weeks.  She had one tooth cut through about three weeks ago and a second cut through at the beginning of this week.  She is chewing on everything!  She hadn’t been sleeping well at night – Up every 2-3 hours and she wanted a full feeding each time!  But thankfully, she is getting back to a more “normal” sleep pattern for her.  (up 1x in the night.)

She is still very long – 27 3/4 inches (off the chart).  But she has “thinned out” and “only” weighs 19 lbs, 6 oz.  Of all my kids, she weighs the least at 6 months!  Yay!  (Caleb was a little over 20 lbs and Alec was 23 lbs, 10oz!)  Her weight is 95%.  The doctor did note that her head had jumped from the 50% to the 75% in the last two months.  They will recheck it again in about a month, just to make sure nothing is going on.  I am not too worried, though.  Her head almost seemed small in comparison to the rest of her body – I think it is just catching up.

She LOVES to eat with us.  She sits up well in this seat.  She isn’t sitting on her own yet, but it won’t be long.  (She likes to bang on the tray!)

*6 months*

Can’t believe our baby girl is already 6 months old!  I will update more later, but here she is on her 6 month birthday!

*5 months*

Ella is 5 months old today.  She is growing like crazy and every day we fall more in love with her!  It is so fun to watch her personality develop!  She wants attention from her brothers – they make her smile and laugh (except when Alec gets in her face too much – she doesn’t like that and will squeal at him!)  But she LOVES attention from Daddy!  She will make noises just to get him to look at her!  He has to greet her when he gets home, or she isn’t happy!  It is so sweet! 

She is eating more baby cereal and has now tried a few types of baby food.  She gets excited when she sees me fixing it!  Her new favorite is juice!  She doesn’t like formula (still working on that), but she will drink water and now juice (diluted, of course) from a bottle.  She can hold it by herself sometimes…such a big girl!

She is interacting a lot with her toys now.  She holds them and looks at them intently.  She seems to study things.  In fact we were at a friend’s house the other night and I was trying to nurse her.  She didn’t want to eat because she wanted to look at everything in the room.  I don’t remember the boys studying things so intently…maybe they did, but this seems different.

She gives kisses all the time – the open mouth sloppy ones!  So sweet!  Oh, and no teeth yet, even though she bites on all her toys and is always chewing on her fingers.

She is in 9-12 month clothes, so I am constantly having to pack away sweet little outfits that were only worn a few times.  But she is healthy, so that is good!

Ella’s appt

Ella had her 4 month well baby check up today.  She got four shots and one oral immunization.    The boys stepped out into the hall, because they were so sad about her shots.  Caleb just about started crying when he heard her cry – isn’t that sweet?

We already knew that we had a big girl, but it was confirmed today!    She weighed in at a whopping 17lbs, 10oz (over 95%).  Her length was 26 1/2 inches (off the chart!).  Everything looked good and she is right on track! 

So grateful for a healthy little girl!

*4 months old*

It’s the 11th again…so Ella is one month older!  Four months…amazing.  She is really coming into her own personality.  She smiles most of the time and loves to be held and to have attention!  Last night we got back into town and she was really excited to see Daddy!  When he turned away to talk to the boys, she started saying “Ah, Ah” really loud to get his attention – of course when he looked back at her, she flashed a huge grin!

Let’s see…she has started rolling over, she eats her cereal every night, she will drink ice water from a bottle, but not milk or formula!  She is chewing on everything she can get into her mouth & drooling like crazy.  (The boys never drooled, so this is a new experience!  Ha!)   She hasn’t been sleeping too well.  Tonight she is moving into her room for bed time (we’ll see how that goes).  I was going to move her a bit ago, but she got congested and wasn’t breathing well at night.  So we are trying now.

She is so sweet.  We love her SO much.

Tomorrow morning she has her 4 month check up (and shots – yuck).  I will post her stats after that!

**3 months old**

My, oh my…where has the time gone?  Ella is 3 months old today!  (13 weeks)  This little girl continues to bring joy to our family.  She started laughing this week.  She has been SO close for a couple of weeks, but she finally started really laughing and it is so precious!   

She is wearing mainly 6 month clothing!  There are a few smaller things that fit her (and a few bigger things!), but for the most part she is in 6 months!  Ha! 

She plays with her hands and over the lastfew weeks, she figured out how to get them in her mouth!  She sucks & chews on her hands all the time!  Sometimes she finds her thumb, but she hasn’t become attached!  (Whew!)  She has also been pulling her dresses up to put them in her mouth – it is funny.  She likes to look at her toys and will hold on to them for a bit.  Most recently she has started snuggling with whatever blanket she has – so sweet.

I think she has missed her brothers this week.  They usually entertain her – so she has needed a little more attention from me!  But we have had a great time together.  (We went shopping today!)

~2 months old~

Ella is officially 2 months old today…wow…

Tomorrow she goes for her check-up and her shots.  So if you think about us, please pray that it goes well and that she does okay afterwards!

 

 

8 weeks have flown!

It is so hard to believe that Ella turned 8 weeks old yesterday!  In some ways it seems like she got here, but in other ways it seems like she has always been here!  What a precious addition she is to our family!  I thought I would post some photos of her progression!
